Superior Bush Suite
The patio faces the right way at the right time of day. If you are here for a birthday or an anniversary, this is the one we quietly suggest.
Five rooms on the edge of the bush, a short drive from the gates of the Greater Kruger. Small enough to feel like your own private hideaway.

The lodge
Evenings are for sundowners, starlit skies, and the quiet sense that you are somewhere that matters. There are five rooms, which means on most nights we are cooking for ten people. That is deliberate.

A bath positioned so you can lie in it and watch the bush do nothing in particular. Most guests spend longer in this room than they planned to.
Its own garden, walled and quiet, and a shower big enough for two people who have been in a vehicle since before sunrise.
Separate from the main lodge, with its own lounge. Couples take it when they want the whole place to themselves, and it suits longer stays.
Rates are bed and breakfast, per room per night, the same for one guest or two. Breakfast is served 08:30–10:00. Dinner is two courses, decided that morning around whatever came in, and is R 550 per person — let us know the day before. Tell us about allergies when you book and we cook around them.
Booking through this site goes straight to us rather than through an agent, which means the best available rate and a note that reaches Ruan and Jenny before you arrive.

A day here
Times move with the season — we confirm the next day's over dinner · rates per person, subject to change · park entry and conservation fees excluded where they apply
The spa
The spa is open from ten until five, so it is there for the long middle of the day when the bush has gone quiet and there is nothing to be out for.
Please book at least a day ahead. It is a small diary and that is the only way we can be sure of holding the time you want.
That is the whole menu. It is a small spa with a small diary, which is why we ask for a day’s notice — two if you would like a treatment for two.
Your hosts
We met on a game reserve in the Eastern Cape — Jenny running the lodges, Ruan out on the vehicle as a field ranger and photographer. We talked for years about having our own place.
In 2020 both our jobs ended in the same month. We drove up to the Kruger for a holiday and did not really leave. We built Muunga through lockdown and opened the week we were allowed to. Ruan still takes the photographs. Between us we are here for most of the things that make a stay work.
Guest reviews
Having traveled across all five continents, I can honestly say that this level of care and hospitality is something I’ve only encountered in a few very special places.
Beautifully and lovingly decorated, with so much attention to detail that you immediately feel at home… the meals are simply outstanding.
Outstanding in all areas, and the hosts are so lovely — they felt like family by the end.
Journal
Winter gets you the sightings. Summer gets you the birds, the storms and the newborns. Neither is wrong — they are different holidays. Here is how to choose, month by month, from someone who drives it every week.
